Get to know Cryptomeda’s team with this interview of our CEO, Martin Jerabek!
Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you’re working on at Cryptomeda?
Hi, Meda Heros! I’m Martin Jerabek, I’m the CEO of Cryptomeda. Currently, my focus is mainly on the logic of the non-fungible tokens (NFTs), staking platform, and finance. I’m fortunate that I have help from the best team I could ever dream of, we are currently finalizing staking smart contract, NFT smart contracts, and the Marketplace for our NFTs, and excitingly, we are working on the design documents for our first mobile game.
How did you get into crypto?
I accidentally got into a meeting where one guy was offering a cryptocurrency called Macro in 2016. It was so obvious to me that it was some kind of scam. It pushed me to learn more about cryptocurrencies, I really liked the idea of having an alternative to fiat money. Then I bought my first bitcoin and the rest is history.
What is exciting to you right now in the crypto space?
How fast the crypto space is evolving. Crypto works better than our current broken financial system, and it’s a hope for the future, to fight against inflation of fiat. Another hot topic is decentralization, spreading the control is essential for a brighter future.
What do you see as the future of NFTs?
If I didn’t believe NFTs would be huge, I wouldn’t have started Cryptomeda. I think NFTs can upgrade many of the biggest sectors in the industry, art, gaming, real estate, collectibles. I believe we will be using NFTs for things we can’t even think of right now. It will have its own cycles and upgrades and will keep evolving.
What do you think the biggest challenges are right now at Cryptomeda?
The slight bear trend within this bull market. I’m confident that it’s just temporary, and we can still see bitcoin at least at 100k. This bear market has turned people off from crypto. I feel it while communicating with influencers and partners. Regardless, we will be working on Cryptomeda no matter what.
What do you think about the future of gaming?
It’s an expanding market with ever higher motivation to release better games, technologies, platforms, etc. I believe NFTs are the next step for gaming, it will help the players by giving them true ownership of their digital assets and will bring long-term value to all the hours they spend immersed in a game. Not only will it keep players playing, but it will also bring new players on board with the notion that they can get rewarded for their time.
What does Blockchain technology mean for the gaming industry?
It’s a new dimension, new rules can be applied here. People can earn tokens while playing the game. Those tokens can even be changed for other crypto or fiat money. Collectible value is also important here, these tokens will be more valuable in the future if the project is successful. Games can also use different strategies for rare NFT items like different usability and value. Holding NFTs can also have advantages (special airdrops, more options, better performance in the game).
What previous experience do you have with gaming?
I am the eternal master of Mortal Kombat 2. Strategy games fascinate me, I played a lot of the ‘Command and Conquer’ series, until I found Starcraft Brood War in 1999. That was much better than anything else. The next year I ranked in the top 16 in the championship of Slovakia and since then I’ve been in the top places each year. I still watch the top Starcraft 2 tournaments in Korea. If you are wondering who my favorite player is, it’s Reynor!
What are you most excited about with Cryptomeda?
Growth, I can’t wait to see where we can go. We have amazing partners, contacts, and endless possibilities with NFTs. I’m also excited about the gamification of the entire platform. Everything is very fresh and cool. Even the staking platform will feel like a cool game. The real excitement for me is in our gaming platform, that’s where our NFTs will get real use. NFTs will not only have a collectible value with some intriguing logic behind it, but users can use each NFT in all the games we release and earned/obtained NFTs will be tradable in our marketplace.
Who is your favorite superhero and why?
My favorite superhero is Spiderman. Hard to say why. I loved watching Spiderman cartoons when I was a kid and I still love to watch Spiderman movies, especially those with Emma Stone. And of course, I love the latest animated version: Into the spider-verse. Those animations were breathtaking.
What is one part of the game you want to share with the community?
There are so many cool aspects. First, you will be set up in the Cryptomeda universe with a character of your choice. MEDA- the mysterious energy floating around the universe will positively affect you, give you healing powers, but also destructive ones. You have to figure out what kind of person you want to be. Cryptomeda characters will guide you through your journey, you just need to collect as many NFT characters outside of the game as you can. There are a lot of valuable NFT items that can be found in the Cryptomeda planets. Find them, upgrade them, and then show everyone your achievements, or share them with others on the marketplace, there really are too many great parts of this game, I can’t list them all here.
Any closing remarks for the community?
Yeah, we enjoy games, and at the same time we take our job seriously. We work hard day and night to create and deliver Cryptomeda uniquely, to satisfy our community, and to bring something new and extraordinary to the NFT sector. This is the project we want to be proud of, and we are sure you will too. It takes a lot of effort to be successful in the crypto space, but we are fully committed to this project. With our team’s dedication and perhaps a stroke of luck, Cryptomeda will definitely have a bright future.
